Test pilot Yves Kerhervé is granted the AJPAE's 2007 Icare prize
By Jean-Michel Guhl in Paris, France
Yves Kerhervé, the present chief test pilot of Dassault-Aviation, was awarded the AJPAE's prestigious "Prix Icare" during a ceremony attented by hundreds at the Cercle Militaire Interarmées in Paris on May 31, 2007.
The prize granted by the French Professional Aviation and Space Journalists' association (AJPAE) is one of France's most coveted distinctions. Yves Kerhervé was elected to receive this award on account of his exceptional pilot's career, first as a military pilot with France's Aéronavale then as a test pilot with Dassault-Aviation.
Yves "Bill" Kerhervé has flown so far 8 700 hours, mostly on combat jets (Étendard, Super-Étendard, Crusader, Rafale…) and he is the only naval pilot to have trapped on-board four French carrier successively; Arromanches, Clemenceau, Foch and Charles-de-Gaulle. After having been for many years the Rafale main combat aircraft test pilot, he is presently in charge of the flight programme of the new Falcon 7X long-range business jet.
Admiral Alain
Oudot de Dainville, a long-time schoolmate and comrade of Capitaine de Frégate (retired) Yves Kerhervé, and present chief of staff of the French Navy joined the party to congratulate one of France's most reknowned test pilot. [Paris - 05-31-2007].
